2019 Winter Newsletter – Defibrillators for the Beaches

Many of us love to take the 8km walk around Narrabeen Lagoon.  It is one of the finest and most scenic walks in Sydney.

Sadly, one of the people using the track recently passed away and as a result, there have been discussions around the availability of defibrillators.

As the local MP and as Minister for Health, I have discussed with Northern Beaches Council the possibility of the placement of the three defibrillators on the track.

These would be similar to what you may have seen at Rat Park (Warriewood) and Cromer Park (Cromer).

It is looking hopeful that this will process, with the NSW Government paying for the capital costs and the Council meeting the recurrent costs.

Defibrillators have also been issued to all of our surf clubs as part of a project that I implemented and recently, Steve Pearce (SLSNSW Chief Executive) popped into my electorate office to let me know that all the surf clubs and really pleased to have them as a resource, for all of us on the Beaches.

Thank you again to all our surf club members who keep us safe when we are at our magnificent beaches.
